About the CNSA

. . . . . . . . .

Who are we? What do we do?

The Canadian National Shuffleboard Association is made up of representatives from available provincial shuffleboard associations across Canada. (See Provincial Assoc. & other Members.) From this standpoint the CNSA represents the sport of shuffleboard across Canada. There is much work to be done however, in fostering and developing provincial shuffleboard associations for all provinces. As of 2011, only the provinces of Alberta, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia could be said to have a provincial association. With our growing population, we expect increasing numbers of people who play our enjoyable and very affordable sport.

One thing the CNSA believes in - providing a way for Canadian shuffleboard players to remain in contact with each other. One of the best ways of doing that is to hold shuffleboard tournaments! These always popular events present top-level competition as well as a dynamic social environment. Our Annual General Meeting (held in association with a major tournament) provides a means for two-way communication between CNSA members and officers, and to hold biannual elections for CNSA posts.

Another CNSA role is to interact with the International Shuffleboard Association (ISA), organizing shuffleboard tournaments to promote, through the sport of shuffleboard, international good will and a positive Canadian image. The CNSA acts on behalf of CNSA the provincial organizations and other CNSA members, to promote ISA tournaments and to co-ordinate selection of players for Canadian teams.

The CNSA Hall Of fame is maintained to honour those people who have made significant contributions to shuffleboard in Canada, either through a role as CNSA president, as an exemplary player, or special contribution to the sport.

Communication is difficult. We shufflers are very spread out in Canada. That is why the website "CNSA Shuffleboard Canada" was created after the original "The Shuffler" website ceased publication. The CNSA website, www.cnsashuffleboardcanada.org, now represents Canadian shuffleboard, and is now under the ownership and control of elected CNSA officers.

We hope your CNSA website does the job and satisfies your needs as a Canadian shuffleboard player. We are always open to suggestions for improvement, so please let us know - ShuffleboardBill@gmail.com
